Competition Update
BCGA’s Level 10 gymnasts Emily Barrett, Mackenzie Valentin and Reagan Hemry had a near perfect competition at the Nadia Comaneci International Invitational hitting 11 out of 12 routines. All three of them competed in the senior division of the International Elite session, and all three were successful on their best events as well as the all-around where Reagan finished 3rd, Emily 4th and Mackenzie 5th.
Reagan’s best result on the individual events was on bars where she placed 3rd. Emily won two individual event medals, both bronze, on beam and floor.
Mackenzie placed 2nd on floor, just one-tenth behind the first place finisher Anysia Unick from Canada, who was also the winner in the all-around competition.
In the level 10 session, best performances for the team came from Katie Brown, who despite a fall on beam (handspring-layout), finished 3rd in the all-around. Katie also added a gold medal on floor with a score of 9.55. In the level 9 session Jessica Karges finished 3rd in the all-around as well, also despite a fall on beam. Christina Nguyen (level 8) had her best competition of season scoring 9.4 or higher on every event. Christina placed first on bars, beam and floor, and tied for first place in the all-around. The level 8 team finished 3rd.
